Xanthelasma are soft, yellowish deposits of cholesterol that sit just beneath the skin of the eyelids. Although these lesions are harmless, they can become noticeable and some people find their appearance bothersome. Xanthelasma are more common in older adults and can be associated with higher cholesterol levels but can also be genetic.
Advanced electrolysis is one of the few treatments gentle enough to address this delicate area. Heat is delivered superficially via a very fine needle to target and melt the fatty plaque allowing the body to clear it naturally. Following treatment, it is normal for a scab to form and heal over 7 to 14 days.
More than one session may be required due to the sensitive nature of the treatment area.
